Laura Vaughn

Laura is a Genetics graduate student originally from Ohio.  She is an excellent cook, and her experience dancing has made her graceful and efficient.  Laura is using the natural variation within Arabidopsis ecotypes to find the molecular basis for root skewing behavior.

Gengxiang Jia

Geng is a post doc from Shanxi, China.  He is working on the Wave-Dampened-Like family of proteins within Arabidopsis which are defined by their KLEEK domain.

Kate Baldwin

Kate is from Chicago, IL, and her Chinese zodiac sign is the Boar in the Forest.  She is exceptionally friendly and also knowledgeable in digital imaging and graphic diagrams.  Kate likes rabbits and crafts.  She is a Cellular and Molecular Biology graduate student working on the conserved protein, Cactin.

Julian Verdonk

Julian is a post doc from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He did his Masters and PhD at the University of Amsterdam. During his PhD he worked on floral scent production by Petunia, which he continued in Gainesville as a post doc at the University of Florida. Now he works on the characterization of genes involved in the synthesis and deposition of the secondary cell wall in Arabidopsis in a GLBRC (Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center) project since October 2008. He loves classic rock and the terrace.  Julian recently became a sailor.

Allison Strohm

Allison is a wonderful horsewoman.  She is also very artistic and skilled at glass blowing.  Allison has a beautiful
orchid named after her.  She is a Cellular and Molecular Biology graduate student studying genes involved in the early phases of gravitropism.

Sara Wilke

Sara is an undergraduate from Columbia Heights, MN.  She is a Sagittarius and prefers gloves to mittens in the winter.  Sara is majoring in biology and assisting Allison in studying the role of calcium in gravitropism.

Judith Harris

Judith is an undergraduate from Delaware, and her Chinese zodiac sign is a rabbit looking at the moon.  Judith is majoring in biology and helping Allison study the role of calcium in gravitropism.  She is planning on attending graduate school next year.

Joe Kutschenreuter

Joe is a sailboat and ski racer who prefers mittens.  He is also a horse in the hall, which makes him honest; straightforward, eager, loyal, dedicated, and compassionate.
